Event Date: Thursday, June 23, 2016
Exercise is Medicine (EIM) is an international initiative with representation in over 43 countries including Canada. The goal of EIM is to include exercise prescription and exercise referral practices into our health care system because exercise has been shown to prevent, manage and treat chronic diseases. In Canada, to promote the mission of EIM we also have Exercise is Medicine on Campus chapters. Western's chapter has founded and will be hosting the first Exercise is Medicine Ontario Student Research Conference on June 23-24 in the International and Graduate Affairs Building with support from SGPS, Research Western and SOGS. Students across Ontario will be gathering to discuss their exercise related research. Attendance to the keynote presentation is free! Dr. Robert Petrella, physician and faculty member at Western, will be joining us to share the perspective of physicians on prescribing exercise. He has been involved with EIM at the international level and we highly encourage you to join us at 9:30am on June 23 for his talk. Any other questions can be directed to eimcwsc@gmail.com
