The workshop allows students to gain a general understanding of stress factors and being able to handle it if someone approaches you with a mental health crisis and being able to refer. By the end of the workshop, you will be able to:
- Be able to describe mental health and wellness services provided at Western and in the London community
- To describe how to refer a friend to appropriate resource
- To effectively understand and employ active listening techniques
- Understand the stress response- differentiate between experiencing stress as constructive vs. destructive
- Take an active approach to coping with stress, and identify when to reach out for additional support
