Transit of Mercury

At Western's Cronyn Observatory

The Hume Cronyn Memorial Observatory will be hosting a special transit viewing event on Monday May 9, 2016! We will help you safely observe the transit, and telescopes will be set up behind the Observatory. Special activities will be set up for school groups: go on a tour of the Solar System, or listen to astronomy professors talk about Mercury and what we can learn from transits. We'll have a scavenger hunt for students, and prizes for those who complete it. Inside Cronyn Observatory, we will have a live feed of the transit, and the basement will be open for guests to view historical artefacts and displays related to the Observatory.

Eclipse glasses will be available.
