mardi 28 novembre 2017

Event Date: Wednesday, November 29, 2017

This session is designed for Western employees who are interested in learning more about how they can support Indigenous students, staff, and faculty across campus and beyond.

Led by Professor Pauline Wakeham, a non-Indigenous faculty member who will reflect upon her ongoing process of learning what it means to practice anti-racist and decolonial approaches to teaching, research, and relationships, the workshop will focus upon what non-Indigenous people can do to learn about settler colonialism in Canada and how it impacts many aspects of contemporary life, including post-secondary education.

In addition, the workshop will also discuss Indigenous principles of respect, reciprocity, and relationship and what they can teach non-Indigenous peoples about good ways of working together in the university system.
