The Society of Graduate Students in Music at Western University is pleased to announce its 18th annual Graduate Symposium on Music (WUGSOM), August 25th–26th, 2017.
In its 18th year, WUGSOM features graduate student papers from across North America, ranging in topics from music theory, musicology, music education, ethnomusicology, composition, and performance. This year, Julie Pedneault-Deslauriers (University of Ottawa) will deliver a keynote address entitled "Singing on the Piano: Clara Wieck-Schumann and the Keyboard Romance in the Early 19th Century" on Saturday, August 26 at 3 p.m. Our own faculty member, Dr. Jonathan De Souza, will also be leading a workshop entitled "Musical Instruments and Embodied Performance."
